Grand Forks population tops 4,000

The population of Grand Forks is back over 4,000.

That’s according to results from the 2016 census released by Statistics Canada this morning.

The exact head count was 4,049, compared to 3,985 five years ago.

Grand Forks recorded more than 4,000 people on both the 2001 and 2006 censuses, but dipped just below that in 2011.

Greenwood is down to 665 from 708 in 2011. Midway also fell to 649 from 674.

RDKB Area C, which includes Christina Lake, is at 1,337, down from 1,391.

Area D, rural Grand Forks stood at 3,225, up from 3,187.

Area E, the West Boundary, stood at 2,155, up from 1,970.
