RDCK asks public to burn responsibly

Local residents may start to see or smell smoke in the skies.

This as spring burning season is underway and the RDCK is sending out some public reminders.

Do not burn any plastics, only organics and be mindful of where the wind is blowing and how strong it is.

You should make sure you have fire suppression nearby, and ensure that the fire is fully extinguished when finished.

Unlike some municipalities, the RDCK does not have bylaws which regulate burning.

They recommend checking with your local city hall to see if any restrictions are in place or if any permits are needed in your specific area.
