Kootenay Lake School District’s Draft Facilities Plan is not sitting well with a Creston non-profit group.
Valley Community Services operates six programs out of the Creston Education Centre, a building slated for closure in 2017 under the plan.
Executive Director, Serena Naeve says it’s an early years model, 14-year partnership with the district that’s provincially recognized.
She says they don’t have the dollars to relocate.

Naeve says the programming only works the way it is currently set up, all in one place for the children and families.
She’s encouraging parents and community members to submit their concerns over the potential loss of the Creston Education Centre building to SD 8 by April 30th.
