An extensive homelessness count in Nelson is underway.
It’s the Queen City’s first point-in-time count and involves over 50 volunteers working with the Nelson Committee On Homelessness.
Shelters and transitional housing were surveyed and counted last night.
Teams of volunteers are on the streets, parks, alleys, hang outs and many service locations during the day today.
The homelessness count is part of, and supported by, a nationally-coordinated effort under the federal homeless partnering strategies.
