Boundary Showcase Returns to Gallery 2

Pick up some paint and ready your canvases, The Boundary Showcase is returning to Gallery 2. Creators in the community can submit artwork from the past year to be professionally presented from April 20th to May 4th. Guest Curator Nora Curiston is picking this year’s theme.

Director and Curator Tim Van Wijk explains:

“This year we’re calling it post-diluvian, which means after the flood, so we’re asking people to think about the last year when they’re putting together they’re artworks, and maybe do something that’s a response to or consideration about what’s being going on in the community in the past year.”

Wijk says they’re doing something else that’s different this year:

“This year we’re going to have a closing reception, because we’re also partnering with the Habitat For Humanity Restore on a fundraiser called Take A Seat, so artists and creators are invited to pick up a chair at Habitat and paint it and then there will be a silent auction.”

Funds raised through the Take A Seat fundraiser will be split between Restore and The Gallery. Gallery 2 also partners with an after-school arts program who are holding their exhibition at the same time. Last year over 100 pieces of art were submitted by 75 different local artists, and Wijk expects a similar turnout this year. Submission forms will be available March 1st and drop off days are April 3rd and 4th.
