A unique sporting event to the area is touching down in the West Boundary. Rumble at Rock Creek will be a day of sanctioned boxing matches hosted by the BC Boxing Association. Boxing Club Owner Geoff Lawrence says the event is inspired by a local family dedicated combat sports.
He says if this year goes well he’d like to make it an annual event:
“This one is sort of a pilot project, the family is so dedicated I thought it was only appropriate for me to throw a little bit of my time at creating something up there for them.”
Lawrence adds at least one of those family members will be competing in his hometown:
“He is the current 2019 youth 64 kilogram champion, he won the provincials this year, we’ve got all kinds of good talented boxers.”
He says his shows in Kelowna see between 400 and 500 spectators. The event hits the Rock Creek Fairgrounds May 18th from 11AM to 5PM, and tickets will soon be made available around town.
