NDMP flood protection grant not approved by federal government

The Boundary Flood Recovery Team say the federal government didn’t approve a grant for Grand Forks flood protection, but they are hopeful to hear positive news regarding other project proposals in the future. The National Disaster Mitigation Program funding was applied for last Summer, and worth approximately 3 million dollars. The proposed project included a dike for the east side of downtown, as well as a storm sewer main, and a pump station for the storm water system. The Team, despite having that application denied, says they will continue to seek other funding opportunities, and are dedicated to creating a more flood-resilient community. The Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund, worth 49.9 million dollars was applied for back in January.

The Juice FM Newsroom has since reached out to the Boundary Flood Recovery Team. For more details click here.
