A 32 hectare ecosystem restoration burn is planned for about 10 kilometres West of Grand Forks, in the Gibbs Creek Area. The Southeast Fire Centre says BC Wildfire Service planned to start as early as yesterday, and smoke may be visible from Grand Forks and surrounding areas. Key goals include rejuvenating the shrub/grass layer, improving biodiversity, and reducing combustible material.
