Applicant Information Meeting for 19th Street project hits GFSS

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the completion of Grand Forks’ 19th Street BC Housing project, a meeting this week might be for you. BC Housing and Boundary Family Services are hosting an Applicant Information Meeting for the affordable housing development, discussing eligibility, and the application process. Director for the interior region, Ann Howard, will be present for the meeting.

She says there will be housing for all income levels, but those who need it most will be prioritized:

“So we expect to open in the Winter, hopefully this calendar year but it might go into 2020. We have 52 homes, so 24 of those are one bedroom, 18 are two (bedroom), and 10 are three (bedroom)….”

Howard adds they’re happy to work with the community to get this project going:

“You know we’ve known that Grand Forks needs additional housing for some time, so we’ve been working with the city and after the flood the council asked us to expedite this family housing which is why it’s going ahead as quickly as it is.”

The meeting runs from 6PM to 7:30PM on July 24th, this Wednesday, in the Grand Forks Secondary School Auditorium.
