Cannafest 2019 is drawing near, and some changes have been made to the line-up. Eddie Money’s performance at Canada’s hottest rock festival has had to be cancelled, plus he’s had to postpone all other tour dates as well. Not to fear though, as Cannafest will be stepping back into the 60’s when the Beach Boys come to Grand Forks!
Owner and organizer Chuck Varabioff says he’d known all along that he wanted to book someone like the Beach Boys:
“They get tons of air-play, like they have for years and years and years, so every song that the Beach Boys play -people will have heard them, and they know the music. Everybody will know the music, young kids, old kids, they’re in a ton of TV commercials, radio ads, anything you turn on has Beach Boys music in it.”
He adds that Vancouver’s own pop rock band Marianas Trench is performing on the Friday evening as well:
“I figured we needed something for everybody this year and I looked and looked and looked and Marianas Trench was a perfect fit. They’re Canadian, they’re super hot right now, they’ve been nominated for a number of awards over the years….”
Varabioff says ticket sales are going well:
“Single day tickets right now are super close to being sold out, there probably won’t be any at the gate. I’m not positive, but I know both of my retailers have called me today and they’re out of tickets, so they’re waiting for more tickets to be delivered right now.”
