Search Warrant leads to seizure of cash, drugs, and weapons

RCMP says cash, weapons, and large quantities of drugs were seized after a search warrant was executed at a hotel room downtown Grand Forks on Friday.

Sergeant Daryl Peppler with Grand Forks RCMP explains:

“It was the result of an ongoing investigation into drug activity in this community. The warrant was executed without incident, and two individuals were arrested, and brought back to the Grand Forks RCMP detachment where they have been held for a bail hearing and are currently still in custody.”

A 46 year old Grand Forks-man and a 34 year old Grand Forks-woman have been arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon. The man has also been charged with three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Peppler says assistance from the public is a great help in these investigations:

“While we get information from a lot of sources, the public is still the best source of information. They can report through the police directly, or if they wish to remain anonymous they can always call Crime Stoppers to report.”

The drugs are suspected to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, which Peppler adds is unfortunately common these days. Over $2500 in cash and two tasers were also seized.

To contact BC Crime Stoppers you can call 1-800-222-8477.
