Greenwood resident aims to raise funds to fight prostate cancer

A Greenwood resident is fundraising to fight prostate cancer in a unique fashion. Herb Stumpf goes by Harmonica Herb, and is hosting the region’s first ever Harmonica Blowoff: A 24 hour event starting and finishing in Beaverdell at the Red Rock Garage.

Herb says he’s walking both the highway and Trans Canada Trail while playing his music.

“I walk every day and I play the harmonica as it is, I’ve been playing all my life, and I won’t ever give up on it. This is just something that I totally and truly believe in, and I believe it’s for a really good cause: prostate cancer. Which you know, anyone could be susceptible too….”

He says to come on out!

“They can come out, they can bring their shoes with them if they want, they can bring their chairs with them and come and listen to me; I’ve got a bit of a road crew I’m putting together. They’re going to be a long the highway with me and there’s going to be signs up on the highway ‘harmonica player ahead’ and stuff like that….”

He adds he’s fundraising for prostate cancer through Ride For Dad.

The event runs August 30th to 31st, lining up with Beaverdell’s 2nd annual Show and Shine on August 31st. Last year’s Show and Shine car show saw over 30 vehicles.
