Border Bruins beat The Rebels in first exhibition game

It was the first exhibition game of the season for the Grand Forks Border Bruins yesterday evening.

“One of the really neat things was we saw a bunch of familiar faces so we got a lot of returning players from last year, but also some new faces including a couple of locals….” says Kevin Mckinnon with the Play-by-Play Broadcast Team. “They ended up with a four goal lead mid-way through the first period which was excellent, Castlegar did turn the gas on though and come back, and it became a closer game through two….”

Mckinnon says the match wasn’t what he’d expect for an exhibition game:

“A lot of that is about evaluating players to determine which ones are going to make the team and which ones might be moving on elsewhere, and both teams really came out.”

Grand Forks beat The Rebels 8 to 4, and face them again tomorrow, September 6th, at the Castlegar Complex. If you can’t make the drive, catch the game online by clicking here, or by navigating the KIJHL website.
