Midway Fire Rescue to celebrate Kettle Valley Satellite Hall grand opening

You’re invited to celebrate the grand opening of Midway Fire Rescue’s Satellite Hall in the Kettle Valley!

Fire Chief Walter Osellame says the project is nine years of hard work in the making.

“We’re really hoping that people will come out to celebrate this accomplishment, as well as acknowledge those individuals that are giving up their time as pure volunteers with no remuneration what so ever, to make sure that they assist people when they are in need.”

He says it’s a big accomplishment:

“For years we had people calling in when they had emergencies you know ‘can you come and help us’…. and of course we weren’t allowed to leave the municipal boundaries because that was the legislation at the time and the day….”

Osellame adds that extending Midway Fire Rescue’s jurisdiction into the Kettle Valley and Rock Creek areas has brought on more trainees and volunteers. These additions help with safety, as well as with insurance rates for residents. The hall is set to house a full engine pumper, and a 3000-gallon tender. A temporary satellite hall in Rock Creek is also housing a new 2017 fire engine. Opening Ceremonies start at 1PM this Sunday, September 29th, at 3645 Highway 3 in Rock Creek.
