The MP for Kootenay Columbia is calling on the federal Liberals to fight for dairy farmers.
The NDP’s Wayne Stetski says the feds need to start enforcing cheese composition standards.
He says Canadian producers lost a total of over $220 million last year, due to imported diafiltered milk from the US.
Stetski says this product is sold cheaper in Canada, undermining local dairy producers.
The NDP tabled a motion last week for cheese composition standards to be enforced.
