Search warrant concludes in “substantial” seizure of drugs in Grand Forks hotel room

RCMP seized a “substantial” amount of suspected illicit drugs in Grand Forks on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Although further lab testing is required, investigators say they believe they have seized quantities of both fentanyl and cocaine. Investigators from the Grand Forks RCMP were assisted by the South East District General Investigation Section based out of Kelowna.

Together, they executed the search warrant on a hotel unit on the 7400 block of Donaldson Drive. A Grand Forks man was arrested at the scene without incident and later released for a court date in spring of 2020.

“This is our third large scale drug investigation, resulting in a sizeable seizure since August 2019,” said Detachment Commander Sergeant Darryl Peppler in a media release. “While we are pleased with our latest results, we know there is more work to do, and we remain committed to continuing to disrupt the illicit drug activity here in Grand Forks.”

If anyone has information on criminal activity in the community, they are urged to contact the Grand Forks Detachment at (250) 442-8288 or BC Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
