The latest Creston Valley RCMP stats indicate an overall decrease in the crime rate.
Based on the numbers for the first quarter of this year, the crime rate has gone down in comparison to 2015.
Staff Sergeant Darryl Hammond says it’s likely due to the preventative efforts they are taking – mainly with prolific offenders.
Hammond says it’s a change in focus that frees up more time for members.
The Creston Valley continues to have a lower crime rate than the rest of the South East District on a per capita basis.
