In Grand Forks, the Land Acquisition Team (LAT) has now inspected over 100 properties, made offers to 97 property owners, and are finalizing contracts with 26 of the first 40 accepted offers with property owners whose holdings were among the hundreds of homes damaged by the 2018 flood.

The City and LAT will continue issuing purchase and sale contracts during the COVID-19 outbreak, with the next batch of offers currently being approved.

Mayor Brian Taylor is pleased with, and grateful for, the progress on land acquisition: “Given the challenges experienced by everyone in response to the traumatic after-effects of the flood, Council is thankful there is better communication and collaboration along with a high rate of accepted offers. Based on current trends, we expect to have a volunteer acceptance rate of greater than 90 percent.”
