Grand Forks implementing Stage 2 Watering Restrictions

The City of Grand Forks is implementing Stage 2 Watering Restrictions effective immediately.

One of the City’s wells is currently offline for emergency repairs, and unseasonable high temperatures are placing a higher-than-usual demand on the water system. Reservoir levels are dropping as demand exceeds the capacity of the remaining wells, which has the potential to impact water reserves for firefighting or other emergency needs.

While work is being done to return water production capacity back to normal, the City is moving from every-second-day watering to twice-a-week. Other watering criteria are unchanged from those in place at Stage 1.

Manual sprinklers may be operated from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on watering days.

Automatic sprinklers may be operated either from 12:00 am (midnight) to 4:00 am, or on the manual sprinkler schedule of 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and newly planted lawns and landscapes may be hand watered at any time when using a hand-held nozzle.

The City has already adjusted watering at municipal parks and playgrounds to reduce demand.
