The Grand Forks Downtown Business Association announced recently that a number of stakeholders in the city and region are fostering a plan to get new retailers in the downtown core.
Six months of free rent is the key to this plan. Requests for proposals are being accepted to businesses that want to scoop up some prime retail space in the city.
Alf Him of The Board Room Cafe said that his idea was readily accepted by stakeholders in the region. He also said that there has been a strong response to the offer.
There are 6 stakeholders involved in the plan including retail property landlords. Each stakeholder will cover 1/6th of the cost of the rebate.
