BC jobs boost but Kootenays unchanged

BC’s job numbers continue to grow although there’s no change in the Kootenays.

Stats Canada reports BC added 13,000 jobs in April to see the unemployment rate drop to 5.7%.

This is the first time BC has had the lowest unemployment rate among all provinces since comparable data became available in 1976. The national jobless rate is 7.1%.

In the Kootenays our jobless rate was fractionally down to 7.5% compared to April 2015. 5,500 people are out of work.

Alberta shed 21,000 jobs last month.
