Boundary – Similkameen to receive $340,000 in safety and environment funding

Community non-profits across the Boundary Similkameen are getting a boost from nearly $340,000 in funding, which will support local jobs in environmental conservation and public safety. The money comes from B.C.’s Community Gaming Grant program where a portion oft the funds go to conservation and public safety non-profits around the province.

Organizations receiving funding in the Boundary include the Christina Lake Stewardship Society, Grand Forks Search and Rescue Society and the Boundary Invasive Species Society.

The Province will provide approximately $4.8 million this year to over 130 organizations conducting work in areas such as environmental education and wild animal rescue. One hundred and thirty public safety organizations to help with their work providing emergency and lifesaving services will have access to $6.3 million from the provincial coffers.
