The Town of Creston has passed on an appeal from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to send money to help Fort McMurray residents.
Councillor Karen Unruh says it’s up to individuals to donate, not taxpayers.
Cranbrook is among cities in the Kootenays to have donated.
Trail is yet to decide how they will contribute.
The fires in Fort McMurray have displaced close to 90, 000 people.
