One man arrested during drug seizure on Saturday

Grand Forks RCMP executed a search warrant on Saturday at a local hotel that resulted in the arrest of one man and the seizure of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

“Although further lab testing is required to confirm their beliefs, investigators believe they have seized quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine,” said Grand Forks RCMP. “Investigators also seized a large sum of cash.”

Police say the 46-year-old Grand Forks resident was arrested at the scene without incident but was later released from custody and will appear in court at a later time.

“This is another larger-scale drug investigation resulting in a sizeable seizure,” said Detachment Commander, Darryl Peppler. “I have commented in the past that we will continue to investigate these matters, and we will bring those that are making this community dangerous and unsafe before the courts.”

This isn’t the first time the hotel unit on the 7400-block of Donaldson Drive has been the subject of a search warrant as RCMP said the same unit was searched in a separate investigation in January of 2020 which also led to the seizure of illicit drugs.
