A reminder that wildfire season is here following a close call on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake.
A blaze in Gray Creek Monday night was reigned in by members of Riondel Volunteer Fire Department.
The crew was called to investigate a “possible fire” at East Shore Storage around 6:00 pm.
Chief Cory Medhurst says although it’s out of their jurisdiction, they responded.
Medhurst is reminding folks on the east shore to be careful as most homes are not in a fire boundary.
He says it doesn’t appear the blaze was sparked by natural causes.
