Nelson Cares Society is seeking the city’s support for an application to BC Housing for a new affordable rental housing project.
It would be geared towards seniors and involve replacing twenty units at their Lakeside Place which is across the corner from Dairy Queen.
It would become a new three story development featuring 39 units.
Executive Director Jenny Robinsion says they’re looking to create something attractive and special at this key entrance point to town.
BC Housing would own two thirds of the $7.5 million site, with Nelson Cares taking out a mortgage of $2.5 million for their portion.
