Distracted drivers beware… are armed with a new tool.
Mounties will be trying out a new long range scope this weekend as part of their annual crackdown on distracted driving.
These spotting scopes can be attached to a camera.
Constable Melissa Wutke says it allows police to see drivers who may be texting or using a phone from up to a kilometre away.
Wudke says this will help support evidence against the violator in court.
The scopes are being strategically placed throughout the province, including here in the South East District.
