Evacuation alert on Johnson Flats lifted

An evacuation alert for 10 addresses on Johnson Flats in rural Grand Forks has been cancelled.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary says as levels on the Kettle River have dropped and there is less rain in the forecast, the flood risk has decreased for the properties on Beatrice and Division streets.

The areas were previously on an evacuation alert that was issued June 3, cancelled four days later, and then re-imposed on Tuesday.

The RDKB says its emergency operations centre remains activated to monitor conditions and forecasts.
