Dergousoff misses cut at World Aquatics Championship

Christina Lake athlete James Dergousoff nearly matched the time he posted at the Canadian swimming trials in the 200 metre breaststroke at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest today, but it was only good enough for 23rd place.

As a result, he will not move on to the semi-finals. Only the top 16 advance.

Dergousoff finished with a time of 2:13.89, just five-tenths of a second slower than his result at the national trials in April, but nearly two seconds shy of earning a semi-final berth.

Earlier in the week, Dergousoff was disqualified from the 50-meter and 100-meter breaststroke.
