While the onset of the wildfire season was later than usual, at least two small fires are now burning throughout the Boundary. Both broke out Saturday and were lightning caused.
One is near Wales Forest Service Road, east of Christina Lake, and has been measured at 0.3 of a hectare. The other, on State Creek, north of Beaverdell, is 0.2 of a hectare.
There are also at least 11 small wildfires burning in the West Kootenay.
