Teck has detailed remediation plans to Blewett residents regarding its historical tailings along the Kootenay River by Fisherman Road.
The company’s Catherine Adair says the project could take three years.
While Teck is dealing with the toxic issues many residents remain frustrated by the closure of their boat launch because Teck says possible ingestion of those tailings is a health concern.
Since 2012 Teck has asserted their ownership of the land saying a boat launch should not be there.
They have said they’ll work with RDCK to explore other possible launch sites.
