The provincial government has confirmed it is pondering a relocation of the Balfour ferry terminal on Kootenay Lake.
The narrow West Arm is getting shallower and is damaging the MV Osprey vessel and there is increasing pleasure boat activity which is causing safety concerns.
Also the current location poses issues to vehicle traffic that backs-up onto the highway in peak season.
The ministry has pondered various new locations as well as the existing one and will launch public consultations with residents and business owners next month.

A public open house is scheduled for June 15th at Redfish Elementary School.
A website will be launched too.
The consultation will last three weeks until July 6th.
