A local First Nation, which includes Creston’s Lower Kootenay Band, is developing a chamber of commerce.
In an effort to support the move to self sufficiency, the Ktunaxa Nation is creating its own chamber.
Industry Engagement Officer Rosemary Phillips says it would be a one-stop-shop for Ktunaxa businesses or those wanting to be part of the nation’s economy.
Phillips says it would likely be modelled after municipal chambers of commerce.
The goal is to have it up and running in the fall.
