One of the biggest events in Grand Forks in recent years won’t go ahead in 2023.
Canada Rock Fest organizer Chuck Varabioff said in a Facebook post Saturday that he has cancelled the event for health reasons.
“This decision was not an easy one because I love what I have done over the last eight years,” he said.
Varabioff said he has had lung issues and needs to focus on getting better.
“I am not sure what the future holds but I am grateful for the past eight years and wouldn’t change much,” he said.
This year’s festival was originally scheduled for August. The event began in 2014 as Cannafest and brought such acts to town as Gene Simmons, Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings, Loverboy, Our Lady Peace, 54-40, and many others.
Varabioff said all ticket holders will be refunded.
