RCMP say the victim of a shed fire in the 7000 block of 3rd Street in Grand Forks has not yet been identified.
The fire was reported Saturday around 12:30 a.m.
Police say the outbuilding that burned was believed to be frequented by people who are homeless.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but they say there is no indication it was deliberately set.
However, last Thursday and Friday, RCMP and firefighters responded to five brush fires that they consider suspicious.
Each occurred during the evening and early morning and were small to medium size.
On one of these occasions, emergency crews responded to a report of cedar bushes in the backyard of a home. No further property or people were harmed.
Police are investigating and asking you to report any suspicious activity.
