Revelstoke panel to give Boundary Country ideas for economic growth

A group from Revelstoke will give Grand Forks some ideas on developing the regional economy.

Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a trio of guest speakers from Revelstoke today at The Gem Theatre.

The talk is called “Economic Development: Ideas, Successes, and Concepts.”

The speakers are retired arts council executive director Garry Pendergast, economic development director Ingrid Bron and retired mayor Mark McKee.

Pendergast is now treasurer of the DownStage Center Performing Arts Society in Grand Forks.

The speakers will talk about the economic growth the city has experienced over the last 10 years and also share what ideas or concepts might work in Boundary Country.

A Boundary Country Regional Chamber of Commerce member says the goal is to see the area prosper and grow at a pace similar to communities which have access to Columbia Basin Trust money – something Grand Forks does not.

The event, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. this afternoon (257 Market Avenue), is open to everyone.
