Evacuation order for Manly Meadows lifted

Eleven addresses in rural Grand Forks are no longer under an evacuation order.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary says it has rescinded the order for Manly Meadows.

“Dropping water levels have enabled the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s contractor to repair the road and restore access to those addresses,” said emergency operations centre director Mark Stephens.

It follows a tumultuous few weeks for residents threatened by the Kettle River. They were put on evacuation order early this month, then downgraded to an alert, then upgraded to an order again.

A state of local emergency for the Village of Midway has also been rescinded.
