Christina Lake seasonal policing begins

RCMP have begun their summer policing at Christina Lake, but are using a different method this year.

Unlike past years where a reserve constable provided regular patrols, this year different officers from around the area will be brought in throughout the summer.

Sgt. Darryl Peppler said a reserve constable wasn’t available, but he likes the new model, which allows a variety of officers to attend and provide coverage for various dates and times.

He said while there is a strong need for a presence on the water in the detachment boat, officers will also be doing more land patrols, on foot at the beach areas and patrolling around the lake in police cars.

“We have seen in the past what a strong police presence means to the community,” Peppler says. “We also see the need for our presence to make sure everyone is being safe and responsible while they enjoy all that the lake has to offer.”
