The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia is investigating a shooting where a man suffered serious injuries.
On Aug. 12, the Grand Forks RCMP became aware of a possible stolen vehicle at a residence on Willow Road.
When the police got there a man retreated into his home and multiple attempts over several hours were made to have the man leave the home before he reportedly walked out carrying a weapon.
An officer fired his gun striking the man.
Officers conducted first aid before the man was taken by Emergency Health Services to the hospital.
The IIO BC is investigating the case now to make sure there was no wrongdoing.
They automatically investigate all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death.
