Interior Health says wildfires were not to blame for the closure of the emergency room at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks on Saturday morning.
Rather, the health authority says it was due to an unexpected doctor shortage. The ER was closed from midnight to 8 a.m. but has since reopened.
The closure meant residents had to travel to Trail or elsewhere to seek treatment.
