No incentives for Nelson housing project

Nelson City Council has avoided the perception of playing favorites on two affordable housing proposals.

It has decided not to offer any incentives, at this stage, to the Share Nelson initiative in the downtown.

That includes waiving of planning and service fees or even offering use of city land for an emergency lane.

Here’s Councillor Michael Dailly.

The project, for working adults, proposed by Kootenay Christian Fellowhsip, as well as one from Nelson Cares Society for seniors, are seeking BC Housing funding.

Both projects have letters of support from the city.
