Women for mining and refining

There are plenty of local career opportunities for women in the mining and refining sectors.

Jan Morton the Executive Director with the Greater Trail Community Skills Centre is hoping that message will resonate with women in the community.

The skills centre has partnered with Teck Trail Operations to host a 30 month mentorship program.

Morton says with the anticipated future shortage of labour in the resource and construction sectors, employers are looking to retain skilled workers.

She adds women are interested in entering non-traditional careers in these areas.
