Interior Health has noted a rise in whooping cough cases, particularly in Nelson.
Chief Medical Health Officer Doctor Trevor Corneil says they don’t know exactly why.
But Corneil says the lower immunization rate in the Kootenays is definitely a factor.
Between January 1st and June 18th there were 116 cases of whooping cough across Interior Health.
