The number of boats inspected for invasive mussels in BC has already surpassed last year’s total.
6,100 inspections have been carried out on watercrafts since April at 8 stations across the province.
The provincial government invested $2 million earlier this year to help with the fight against zebra and quagga mussels entering our waters.
Boundary-Similkameen MLA Linda Larson says it’s too early to tell if further funding or expansion of the government initiative is needed.
32 inspectors are working at the stations 10 hours a day, 7 days a week until boating season ends in October.
