A cull order to get rid over 400 ostriches in Edgewood has been placed on hold as the matter is before the courts.
An urgent injunction was filed with the Canadian Federal Court to stop the order handed down by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to Universal Ostrich.
Universal Ostrich applied for an urgent judicial review January 30.
In a ruling shared Friday afternoon, Justice Michael Battista said that the February 1 deadline for the birds to be killed should be suspended until after a hearing on the original order from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) can be reviewed by the courts.
