Province seeks Japanese-Canadian historic sites

The province is calling for nominations of Japanese-Canadian historical sites to receive official recognition.

And one historian says there’s no shortage of worthy candidates in West Kootenay/Boundary.

Chuck Tasaka grew up in Greenwood and says as a former interment centre the entire city deserves inclusion.

Tasaka says former internment camps in the Slocan Valley and Kaslo merit consideration as well.

The nomination deadline is Sept. 9.
