Selkirk College marks 50 years in style

Selkirk College turned 50 in style over the weekend.

Saturday’s events included a pancake breakfast, raising the college flag, and a five decades of food gala.

BC Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon was among the dignitaries on hand.

Guichon can relate to a desire to study locally — her husband, being a ranch cowboy kid, preferred a smaller college.

College president Angus Graeme says it wouldn’t have been complete without a celebrity dunk tank.

They hoped to raise $20,000 over the weekend and more in the future.

Money raised will go to scholarships and bursaries.
