Deaf, blind can now text 911 in Boundary

People who are blind, deaf, or speech impaired will now be able to communicate with 911 by text message.

The service has just become available in the regional districts of Central Kootenay and Kootenay Boundary.

But RDCK regional fire chief Andrew Bellerby says you need to sign up first.

Bellerby says it’s only available to those who are deaf, blind, hard of hearing or speech impaired.
