Interior Health says a review will be conducted after a high risk person got out of the Daly Pavilion mental health care facility in Trail last week.
He was later found and safely returned.
Regional Mental Health Administrator Chris Huston says IH does not comment on specific cases but protocols were followed.
Huston says it’s extremely rare for someone to get out but the facility is not a jail so it’s not possible to guarantee people won’t leave.
He says the public can learn more about the balance between involuntary admissions and providing care in an online document called The Guide To The Mental Health Act.
