Community invited to free Family Festival at Grand Forks park

Families in Grand Forks will have an opportunity to enjoy a free afternoon of games, music and activities when the Community Family Festival returns this weekend.

The event, hosted by First Baptist Grand Forks in partnership with Praxis Church Kelowna, is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Dick Bartlett Park.

Organizers said the festival is intended to bring people together for an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment while creating opportunities for neighbours to connect.

“Our goal is simple,” said organizer Brett King. “We want to serve Grand Forks by creating a fun afternoon where families can make memories together, enjoy a welcoming community atmosphere and hear a bit about the Christian faith shared across many Churches in the region.”

Festival activities will include giant inflatables, carnival-style games, live music, children’s activities, free popcorn and freezies. Organizers will also host a series of challenge events, including skill competitions and taste tests, with a $150 gift card awarded to the overall winner.

Admission is free, and residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and spend the afternoon at the park.
